Clack Co Kids HeadStart
In a longstanding partnership with the Clackamas County Children’s Commission Head Start (CCCCHS), JTR Architect has played a pivotal role in the design and development of educational facilities dedicated to fostering access to early education and foundational knowledge for children throughout Clackamas County. This enduring relationship has evolved over the past seven years, culminating in over 10 collaborative projects that span the spectrum of educational infrastructure, ranging from administrative offices, to classrooms, to natural outdoor play spaces.
The initial project with CCCHS was the Administrative Office and Classroom Expansion in 2018 at the River Road Campus. This pivotal project marked the beginning of a comprehensive series of Head Start Projects that encompass staff offices, Head Start Classrooms, Early Learning Classrooms, and purposeful outdoor and nature play areas. The scope further includes strategic land use planning, assessments, and feasibility studies, ensuring a holistic approach to educational infrastructure development.
The essence of these projects lies in their intentional, minimal, and functional design ethos, reflecting a commitment to creating spaces that transcend mere functionality. Each project bears the hallmark of heightened design efficiency, a characteristic that not only streamlines the architectural process but also results in spaces that are a joy to learn and teach in. This approach is particularly evident in outdoor spaces, where natural elements seamlessly integrate with thoughtfully designed play structures, crafting an educational environment that goes beyond the conventional recess space.
